Jackson Moberly takes Third Place Individual at New Mexico 4-H District Three Position Rifle Match June 16, 2026!!
Do you have, or know of, a child who is looking for the right sport for them? Are you, or do you know an adult who would like to get familiar with firearms? Are you, or do you know someone who knows they should spend more time at the shooting range, but could use some motivation, or some coaching? Are you looking to get into shooting, but do not have an amazing support group, and do not want to buy expensive lessons from a stranger? Are you looking for a father son, father daughter, mother son, or mother daughter activity? Have we got one for you! Think about it. Mom, are you allowed on the football field with your son’s high school football team? Dad, are you allowed on the soccer field with your daughter’s eighth grade soccer team? The whole family can play here! Actually, we encourage you too! Do you need to be a football star, or a baseball star, or a soccer star, or a weight lifter, or very smart to be able to shoot? Ask anyone who knows Coach Eric, they will tell you that you do not! Do you need lots of money to try this sport out? Nope! We got you covered in the beginning, then we got you covered for some amazing prices on gear later on! Will this sport teach a child discipline? It will! Will this sport give a child self-confidence? It will! Will this sport give a child a sense of teamwork? The way we do it, it will! Will this sport help a child come out of his/her shell? The way we do it, it will! Could this sport help a child get a college scholarship? Yup, college marksmanship scholarships is a thing! Approximately 300 US colleges have programs! Might this sport give a person a leg up on a future, or current military, or law enforcement career? It sure can! Are you thinking about getting your NM CCW, or your TX LTC? Is it time to renew, or is it time for your two-year refresher? We have a few excellent options to help you! Several of our members are tops in this field in this area!
We are a Rifle and Pistol Marksmanship club. We are open to adult men, adult women, junior boys, and junior girls. We are a National Rifle Association (NRA) Gold Medal club and we require all members of the club to also be NRA members. We will help you become a member if you are not currently an NRA member, and the club will get a little NRA credit in the process. NRA membership for adults through us costs $35.00 for one year and has discounts if you purchase more than one year. A Junior membership is $15.00 per year. This affiliation has some excellent benefits in the way of grants and that pay off nicely, as well as significant training and competitive opportunities. We are a Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) affiliated club (some might remember The Department of Civilian Marksmanship DCM). CMP affiliation also has training, competition, and equipment benefits that all our members can enjoy. We are USA Shooting affiliated. This has some excellent benefits for competition and for the shooter who wants to earn a college scholarship, or who wants to compete at the international level, or the Olympic level! We are a New Mexico Shooting Sports Association affiliated club and have all the benefits that come with that! We are a Not for Profit 501 C 3 tax deductible donation organization, and we are NM sales tax exempt too!
Here we have a father and son team. The target in the above picture is 25 yards away! The black center is about 6 inches across!
All shooters are required to successfully complete the National Rifle Association (NRA) Basic Rifle Course if they want to shoot rifle. We provide that class at a significant discount! All shooters are required to successfully complete the NRA Basic Pistol Course if they want to shoot pistol. We provide that class at a significant discount too! We only charge $50.00 for each student for each class! You must successfully complete both classes if you want to shoot both guns. Also, these courses are prerequisites if you plan on becoming an NRA instructor. NRA certificates of completion will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course. Each class takes approximately 9 hours plus the live fire requirement, and the instructors make them a lot of fun! Several states will accept that NRA training certificate when applying for a CCW/LTC/CWL or whatever they call it. Unfortunately, NM and TX do not. No problem, we do those classes too, we got you covered! Our staff also includes one of the few female NM CCW instructors and NRA CCW instructors.
Dues are $100.00 per year for an individual and $150.00 per year for a family. We offer a 10% discount for military members and families. Dues include all .22 ammunition for each youth shooter, and targets for all shooters! That should make up for the dues! Everyone gets unlimited instruction and unlimited coaching from our amazing coaches and instructors! We have some of the most qualified and experienced coaches and instructors in the SW! That should make up for the dues! Our expert coaches and instructors charge significant fees for their services outside of our organization. Our coaches and instructors are frequently called to different states to provide training throughout the US! Our members get to benefit from that expertise at no charge! That also should make up for the costs of dues! We shoot at Southwest Shooting Center on 1250 Curry Road 16, Clovis, NM (575) 985-1776 https://www.southwestshootingcenter.com/ Southwest Shooting Center is one of our biggest supporters! We would like to thank everyone who helped make our HPMA sponsored Friends of NRA Banquet on May 10, 2025, at the Clovis Civic Center a big success! This was the second event we held. The first one was on May 10, 2024. Thanks to everyone who came and had a lot of fun while supporting the US Shooting Teams and New Mexico youth shooting sports programs! We drew the winning ticket for our fundraiser on Janyary 31, 2026. The winner has chosen his $3,000.00 gift certificate to be from D. C. Tactical! The one winner had a choice of a 1/2 beef from Foote Family Meats, or a $3,000.00 gift certificate from D C Tactical, or a $3,000.00 gift certificate from Southwest Shooting Center! Tickets were only $20.00 each, or 6 for $100.00. We always only print 400 tickets for our fundraisers! This was our most exciting fundraiser ever!
Our instructor staff has accumulated several awards and distinctions. HPMA is proud to announce one of our lead instructors has just been made a member of the NRA/USA Shooting/CMP National Coach Development Staff (NCDS)! NCDS coaches train new marksmanship coaches that are recognized by the NRA, by USA Shooting and by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). Only approximately twelve coaches have been made members of the NCDS since 2015! Would you like to train with an NCDS Coach? Our NCDS Coach can train NRA/USA Shooting/CMP Coaches in Small Bore and Air Rifle, in High Power Rifle and in Pistol!

Our staff includes NM Hunter Education (HE) Instructors and a NM HE Live Fire Instructor.
Do you need your NM CCW two-year or four-year renewal/refresher? Remember, NM CCW requires you to shoot and attend a class with an instructor approximately every two years to keep your CCW valid! The state does not send you a reminder. It is up to you to keep current! Does anyone need, or know anyone who needs an in-person Hunter Education Class? We have two NM Hunter Education Instructors, including one of the few female NM Hunter Education instructors! We also have a brand-new facility to hold these classes in! Click here https://onlinesales.wildlife.state.nm.us/ to go to the NM Dept of Game and Fish to register for Hunter Education.
Our rules and requirements go like this: Ground rule number 1. Safety first, safety always! Ground rule number 2… See ground rule number 1! Our safety rules and cease fire procedures are listed on at the top of this page. We have the strictest safety requirements of any club any of our instructors and coaches are aware of. We are very proud of this! We have 22 safety items that must be memorized before any member can live fire. Each member, junior, or senior, must be able to recite, demonstrate and must constantly employ all 22 items. Ground Rule number 3. You can shoot the way you were taught; as long as you are as safe as we require, or you can shoot the way we teach. It is each shooter’s choice. Most, actually almost every shooter we have ever coached has migrated to the way we teach because it is more accurate than what they had been doing. We teach the generally accepted, time tested, competitively proven method. Ask any of our current, or past members; I think each would agree they have significantly improved their marksmanship skills. Many will agree this improvement is beyond what they expected. Ground Rule number 4. We are all business on the firing line, but we are laughs and have fun in the classroom. All our instructors and coaches are volunteers; none of our instructors and coaches are paid for the time they spend with this organization. We only donate our time with these programs because everyone makes it fun for all. If you do not make it fun for us, we will not come back! So far this has not been a problem.
Father and daughter team. This team has three daughters shooting with dad.
Some of our instructors are with High Plains Concealed Carry, LLC and volunteer their time with us. https://.highplainsconcealedcarry.com https://hpcc.us
The targets in the above picture are 25 yards away! The black circle is about 6 inches across!
    Beards are not required!
This athlete shoots with her brother, her mother and her father!
Equipment.1. We have enough gear for members to try it all out and see what we are talking about before spending any money on firearms and equipment. 2. We are able to purchase equipment, through our fundraisers. 3. Rifle shooters do take a decent amount of equipment, a proper jacket, glove, sling, kneeling roll, shooter’s mat, and a backpack big enough to hold it all comes to approximately $500.00.4. We hope to pay for all of this through our fundraisers. 5. The club has access to firearms and equipment at very good prices!
This athlete shoots with his mother, his father, and his sister!
Now let’s talk about pistols. Again, we train, we shoot, and we compete with open, or iron sights; no scopes, no red dots, no lasers. We do most of our shooting indoors. Beginners will shoot the Gallery Match Course, or 300 pistol club. What does that mean? Our shooters mostly shoot with one hand. Remember, this is with open sights too. The Target is not at 5 yards, or 7 yards, or 15 yards like we see a lot of. The target is at 25 yards for all of this! The target is not a life size human waist up target. Our standard beginner pistol course of fire starts with 10 shots in 10 minutes at a target that is 25 yards away and has the important scoring rings that are about 5- and one-half inches in diameter. Then you will shoot 5 shots in 20 seconds on a similar size target, 5 and ½ inches across, at 25 yards and will do that twice. Then you will shoot 5 shots in 10 seconds on a similar target at 25 yards and do that twice. Then do it all again! Remember, all of this is with one hand, with open sights, and at 25 yards! We will train you in the methods to be successful shooting this course of fire. Other courses of fire are available once a shooter is comfortable with this course of fire. Remember, we will coach you as much as you would like.
Does anyone need, or know anyone who needs an in-person Hunter Education Class? We have two Hunter Education Instructors, and one of the few female NM Hunter Education instructors! We also have a brand-new facility to hold these classes in! Click here to go to the NM Dept of Game and Fish to register for Hunter Education. Does anyone need a New Mexico Concealed Carry class, or a refresher? We have a few New Mexico Concealed Carry Instructors. We have one of the very few female NM CCW Instructors! We also have Texas License to Carry Instructors. We also have a Utah Non-Resident Concealed Carry Instructor? Having this Utah license will add a few states of reciprocity to your New Mexico Concealed Carry License that the New Mexico CCW does not come with.
What else can we offer our members? Would you like to become an NRA Range Safety Officer, or an NRA Rifle instructor, or an NRA Pistol instructor, or an NRA Concealed Carry Instructor, or a NM Concealed Carry Instructor, or a TX License to Carry Instructor, or a Competitive Rifle Marksmanship Coach, or a Competitive Pistol Marksmanship Coach, or an NRA CCW Instructor, or a State CCW/CWL/LTC instructor? We can do all that, and we can do it right here in Clovis! No need to spend a lot of money traveling to a course, or paying for hotel, or paying a high price for the class!
    Dad and son!
Let’s talk about rifles. We train, we shoot, and we compete with open or iron sights; no scopes, no red dots, no lasers. We do most of our shooting indoors. We are a 4-position rifle club. So, what does that mean? Rifle shooters will learn to shoot in the Prone position (or lying down), then we teach the sitting position, then we teach the kneeling position, then we teach the standing unsupported position. The Target is not at 5 yards, or 7 yards, or 15 yards like we see a lot of. The target is at 25 yards minimum for all of this. The target is less than 2 and three quarters inches in diameter and the 10 ring is approximately one quarter of an inch in diameter. The course of fire for each position is 10 shots in 10 minutes or 20 shots in 20 minutes. Lots of time, but a really small target. Other courses of fire are available once a shooter is comfortable with this course of fire. Remember, we will coach you as much as you would like!

The target in the above picture is 25 yards away! The black circle is about 6 inches across! yes, we do shoot pistol with two hands too.
How do we pay for all of this? We hold fundraisers that all our members participate in telling the community about.
All the targets you see except one are 25 yards away! Two dads and two sons!
Other possibilities for funding are applying for and being awarded grants from all our affiliate organizations. A Friends of NRA Banquet was our project. Our first one was held on June 10, 2024, at the Clovis Civic Center. It was a huge success. Our second one was on May 10, 2025, at the Civic Center, and it was bigger and better than the first one! Friends of NRA banquets are lot of fun, and they can provide significant grant opportunities for programs like ours. We have already received substantial grants from the NRA Foundation! All our members participate in getting the word out to the community about this event.
